Every church member is invited to attend and hear the past and now committee reports and requests for the future.  This is your church at work for you, please consider being a part of the importance of this committee. 


The donations for this important mission of our church's mission committee is putting together boxes of some personal and fun items for children in poverty areas around the world.  The Last Sunday for donations will be NEXT SUNDAY, JULY 28th!!!   Please bring in a donation of toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, bar soap or wash clothes if you haven't already.  


Reminder to please donate item(s)found on the sanctuary clothesline for Operation Christmas Child.  The box on the 'Table of Opportunity' is pretty empty!


The new kitchen stoves have been installed, ready to use. Please feel free to check them out in the church kitchen!!


Rev. David will be on vacation Monday, June 24 - through July 2nd, returning on Wednesday, July 3rd. Joe DeGrande will be officiating at Sunday Worship on June 30th.

On Sunday, June 23rd we will be welcoming Nadine Shank to our service as guest organist and members of Florence Congregational Church.


Yes, it is that time again to begin collecting items for the Operation Christmas Child Boxes.  Our Mission Committee is looking for bar soap, toothbrushes, washcloths, and combs. Reminder cards are hanging on the Sanctuary clothesline, please feel free to take one or two.

Beginning next Sunday, June 9th there will be a box out by the Table of Opportunity for your donations


Donations for Economics Ministries to be collected at Annual Conference.  Needed are white socks and underwear for men and children also school supplies including glue sticks, black or blue pens, #2 pencils, note books, composition books, rulers and pencil cap erasers.

If you can help please bring items to church on Sunday, June 9th and give them to Virginia or Sherry.


If you are one who throws away your Church Easter Flowers after they have gone by - DON'T!   Bring them to church and the bulbs will be planted in the fall and we will have Springtime beauty!!  See Pam


During the month of June, Missions is collecting Toothbrushes, Wash Cloths, Bar Soap and Combs for the Children.  A box for donations is out by the "Table of Opportunity". 


The Bible Study meets every week in the Pastor's Office at 11:30am following our worship service.  This Bible Study will have sessions thru June.  There will be no bible study during the summer, pick up again in the Fall.   


The CUMC Prayer Chain is now up and running.  When a request for prayer is received by Rev. Hurst, that request will be passed along through a  email and telephone chain of us for prayer. 

A prayer request can be for your own family, a neighbor or friend needed prayers. If you would like to be in this chain link, please see Nancy Harding to be that next added link....

Next Sunday, May 26th will be the last Sunday for collection of Cereal Boxes for the Northampton Survival Center.  We need a lot more boxes to meet last year's donation, soooo if you haven't yet brought in your donation, please remember to bring it with you next Sunday!!!!!


The Prayer Chair is now in place so if anyone has a concern/prayer please notify Pastor Dave by email, phone or text and the prayer chain will be notified to pray for you.  If you would are interested in being included on receiving notification of a concern/prayer from members of CUMC, please see Nancy Harding to have your name added to the Chain.


One of Mission Committees major drive of the year, Collection of Cereal Boxes will be accepted thru Sunday, May 26th and then delivered to the Northampton Survival Center. If you haven't already, please bring in one or two boxes of cereal - donation box is in front of the 'Table of Opportunity' to the left of the main door entry.


The Prayer Chain has been put into place.  If you have a concern that needs prayer, please notify Joe DeGrande and your request will be forwarded to those on the prayer chain for prayer.

Please watch your incoming mail  for a church lenten letter  with information of what's to come during lent leading up to Easter.  Enclosed with the letter will be an order form for Easter Flowers.  Be sure to fill it out and return it by mail to the church or on a Sunday morning with your check payment to Virginia.

Joe is doing wonderful work as CUMC's Member Care member.  As he moves forward  to become a certified Lay Minister, he is asking for support from the CUMC congregation.

Please try to find time to support Joe in this rich endeavor and attend the next meeting on Wednesday, March 6th at 11am.  On the Usher's Table are copies of the minutes of our first meeting held on Feb. 20th.

Due to the inclement weather on Wednesday (2/20) evening the Church Council Meeting was postponed to this Thursday, (2/28)  to be held at 10am in the Church Library.


Anyone interested in or knowing about the Church Fair (which is held in November), should plan on attending this mornings' meeting in the classroom at the end of the hallway at 11:15am


If you have any favorite lenten hymns you enjoy singing, please let Pam know so she will try to work them into our Sunday Lenten Worships.


Joe needs a CUMC Lay Ministry Support Team to work with during his studying to become a certified Lay Minister who is one that can be called to conduct public worship, care for the congregation, assist in program leadership, preach the Word, develop faith communities with the support of a Ministry Team and clergy support.

If you are interested in assisting Joe with this wonderful venture in his life, please plan to attend this important meeting.

The Rescheduling of Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30pm.   This is an open meeting to all members and friends of CUMC.

Now is the time to bring your this years' Annual Giving Pledge up to date or you may wish to give additional monetary funds to the church before the end of the year. Your Annual Giving is tax deductible.  


Pastor David will continue with Bible Study in January.


Our Christmas Eve Service will be held on Monday, December 24th at 7PM and will be a service of  Candlelight, Scripture  and Songs.  We will also have our 'Special Puppet Friends'  joining us.  There will be a light refreshment following the service.  If there are two people available to stay following the service to assist with refreshment and clean-up, please let Pam know.


Our Local Missions Committee is accepting donations through Sunday, December 16th of Adult hats, mittens, gloves and socks along with children's P.J.s of all sizes.  There are reminder cards on the clothesline.  Drop your donations under the tree.

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is planning to prepare Student Goodie Boxes later in November.  So, for now they are asking for some study supplies and goodies for these boxes.  On Sunday's October 28th, November 4th and 11th they are asking for donations of the following:  hi-lighters, pens, pencils, sticky notes,  coffee singles, popcorn, power bars,  tea bags and instant cocoa.  A box will  be located on the "Table of Opportunity" for your donations.  

**If you know of any student who is in College and would like a box mailed to them, please fill out the card on the "Table of Opportunity" and drop it in the donation box.


Holiday Fair is only 3 1/2 weeks away!!!!
On the clothes line this morning are reminder cards for cookies.  Make them as soon as you can.  There is some freezer space available.

Put them in freezer bags (no cans or boxes please) label them and bring them to church over the next couple of weeks.


The conference will be held in our church Library starting at 7:00pm.

All reports must be submitted to the church office by October 31st.

CHURCH LIBRARY - We welcome those already part of our puppetry ministry and anyone interested to take this opportunity to refresh and learn the art of puppetry.  It should be a fun time.  Please Come!!

Sunday, October 14th ( 1 - 3pm) here at CUMC. Rev. Bruce Arbour will be doing a puppetry training course for those of us already Puppeteers and thosewho would like to join our puppeteer group. We have a lot of fun - come andjoin us and see what it is all about!!  More info to follow. 


TODAY is the last Sunday for ingredient donation for baking the dinner rolls.  There are two cards left on the clothesline - if someone would like to take them - the ingredients can be brought to the church office on Monday 9/24 between 10am - 1pm.  Sign up for baking on 9/27 and 9/28 is on the Library Table.  (8 people are needed for each day).


If anyone is interested in attending a course for the opportunity to become a Lay Servant, please fill out the inserted registration form in the bulletin and turn it into the church office by next Sunday the 23rd.  You need to be able to attend both sessions (October 6th and 20th) The church will pay the Registration Fee for you.   


Sunday, September 23rd - last Sunday for donations of baking supplies.  There are a few cards still on the clothesline for items needed for baking, please take one if you haven't already.

Roll baking will take place Thursday, September 27th and Friday September 28th.


Rev. Hurst will begin a new 6 week session Bible Study on Sunday, September 9th with a video/discussion called "Exploration of the Soul". You are all invited to join with the group.

This meeting is an open meeting to all church members.  It is the hubbub committee meeting that discusses our church related activities, financial decisions, worship and other miscellaneous conversation.  We welcome you to join us.

Beginning today thru Sunday, August 19th our Missions Committee will be accepting donations of school backpacks for children in the Easthampton area.  There is a LARGE box on the floor in front of "Table of Opportunity" for your drop off.  They Thank You!!

An invitation to all from the church Trustees to view the parsonage at an open house to be held next Sunday, July 29th from 11:15am - NOON.  This is an opportunity for many of you to see the inside, so after you have had a quick snack (or bring it with you), please come over to see the improvement that have been done over the past 4 - 6 months.  There is plenty of room to park, so drive around if you wish.

This year we will be accepting donations of just school backpacks for preschool thru high school children in the Easthampton
area. Donations will be accepted Sunday, August 5th thru Sunday, August 19th. A donation box will be located on the 'Table of Opportunity' during these three weeks of August.


It is imperative that we have three additional offering counters on Sunday mornings.  One for a replacement and two to make up an additional team.  Please see Pam.





Still looking for three extra volunteers to help with offering counting after Worship.  It only takes about 20 - 30 minutes of your time.  Please see Pam if interested.


Beginning on July 1st, Pastor Dave will be leading a bible study in his office on the Book Of Job.



On Sunday, June 10, 2018, we will be celebrating "FAMILY SUNDAY".  After Worship Service, gather at the front of the sanctuary so an updated group picture may be taken.  After the photo, there will be a cook out and 'make your own ice cream Sunday' in Fellowship Hall.  Please come and join the fun!

June 15-16 - The Relay for Life walk will take place at Look Park in Florence.  During this fundraising time for Cancer Awareness if anyone at CUMC would like to volunteer to be a team captain for the church and get a team of walkers put together you can contact the relay website: (Hampshire County Relay for Life) for further information and assistance.  The church does have supplies for this event left from previous walks.  Our own Joyce will be doing hair cuts during the morning of the 16th for hair donations to "Locks of Love".


There are empty Sundays available to sign-up for Altar Flowers.  See the FLOWER CHART on the bulletin board as you enter the library.

Our annual cereal drive for the Northampton Survival Center begins April 22nd.  Again the cereal will be displayed around the sanctuary and we hope to go all the way around - last year we didn't quite make it.  Cereal is on sale now in many stores and if you are a coupon shopper - you can get great deals!  REMEMBER SUNDAY - APRIL 22nd!!!


Delicious roast pork dinner with beverage and dessert. Doors open at 5:00pm and dinner will be served at 5:30pm.

Adults - $12.00
Children under 10 - $8.00

Entertainment for the evening will be  HEART OF THE VALLEY ACAPELLA CHORUS - starting at 7:00pm.

Some entering the sanctuary who wish to take time for prayer and meditation prior to worship service have spoken about the noise and distraction of others talking.  Therefore, it is being asked of those who wish to socialize prior to the church worship service, that it please be done in the Library Area.  Thanks so much for your understanding.
